UNA SOSTA A CASTEL FOCOGNANO
Visitata la Pieve di Socana ed il suo sito archeologico, abbiamo ripreso la strada per Carda. Dopo quattro chilometri incontriamo Castel Focognano, un caratteristico borgo che fu sede di un castello attestato già nel 1022, tra i più antichi del Casentino. Anche questo luogo merita una breve sosta che sarà sufficiente per osservare le testimonianze di un suo importante passato, nonostante nel 1322 avesse subito una parziale distruzione ad opera del vescovo Guido Tarlati, a quel tempo Signore di Arezzo e di Bibbiena.

After visiting the Pieve di Socana and its archaeological site, we took the road back to Carda. After four kilometers we come across Castel Focognano, a characteristic village that was home to a castle attested as early as 1022, among the oldest in Casentino. This place also deserves a short stop that will be enough to observe the evidence of its important past, despite the fact that in 1322 it had suffered partial destruction by the bishop Guido Tarlati, at that time Lord of Arezzo and Bibbiena.
