UN DIPINTO PER CARDA E I SUOI SANTI
Anche un profano comprende che questo dipinto è di modesto valore artistico, al tempo stesso a un grande valore emotivo per gli abitanti di Carda, per più motivi. Fu realizzato dal pittore milanese Giuseppe Campi nel 1696 su commissione dell'allora parroco Don Francesco Fabbri che volle quest'opera per dedicarla a Gesù Salvatore, alle Sante Flora e Lucilla, patrone di Carda, rappresentate con il giglio accanto al Redentore mentre vengono incoronate da due angeli. L'opera fu inoltre dedicata ai Santi Francesco di Sales, Vescovo di Ginevra, Francesco d'Assisi e a tutta la popolazione di Carda. Questo è quanto riportato nell'iscrizione in basso nella tela che ha dimensione notevoli: cm 250x195.
Even a layman understands that this painting is of modest artistic value, at the same time of great emotional value for the inhabitants of Carda, for several reasons. It was created by the Milanese painter Giuseppe Campi in 1696 on commission from the then parish priest Don Francesco Fabbri who wanted this work to dedicate it to Jesus the Savior, to Saints Flora and Lucilla, patron saints of Carda, represented with the lily next to the Redeemer while they are crowned by two angels. The work was also dedicated to Saints Francis de Sales, Bishop of Geneva, Francis of Assisi and to the entire population of Carda. This is what is reported in the inscription at the bottom of the canvas which has considerable dimensions: 250x195 cm.
